“The White Queen,” a miniseries about the war to become the next queen of England starring Rebecca Ferguson, will premiere August 10 on “Starz.” There are already legions of fans who are anxiously waiting for the miniseries, based on the novels by Philippa Gregory. But if you’re still at odds as to whether you should watch the miniseries, here are three reasons to watch “The White Queen”.

1. It’s great for “Game of Thrones” fans: If you’re already in love with the dramatic “Game of Thrones,” “The White Queen” will punch all of the right buttons for you. There are tons of strong characters, lots of intrigue, sketchy relationships, powerful queens and both “Game of Thrones” and “The White Queen” used the War of the Roses as inspiration.

2. Women are at center stage: It’s always great to have a show with women at the center of the conflict. “The White Queen” follows three women who are at war for the coveted British throne. The women are intelligent, sexy and moving–qualities all women hold. The women aren’t just royalty and they aren’t just beautiful–they are well-rounded characters that will entrance viewers.

3. It’s British!: Americans sure do love their British dramas. “Sherlock,” “Downton Abbey” and “Da Vinci’s Demons” are just some of the accented dramas a lot of us have come to hold dear to us. “The White Queen” is surely set to become another one of those dramas that will make many Americans long for British television.
