Sam Worthington To Star In American Crime
Mania.com is reporting that Sam Worthington (”Terminator: Salvation”, “Avatar”, and “Clash of the Titans”) will star in an adaptation of “The Last Days Of American Crime”, the Radical Publishing comic book. Created by Rick Remender, “American Crime” is about low-level career criminal Graham Brick, who is finally working on the big score. Unfortunately, the media leaks a plan by the US government to begin broadcasting a mind-control signal that will eliminate the mental urge to commit illegal activities. Writer Tapped For The Ten Best Days Adaptation
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Klausner as been tapped by Fox to adapt “The Ten Best Days Of My Life”, the novel by Adena Halpern. Fox is developing the project as a starring vehicle for Amy Adams and it will be directed by Shawn Levy. The book is about a young woman who dies and goes to the top of the afterlife echelon called Seventh Heaven, but must prove she is worthy of staying there by proving that she lived a worthwhile life by recounting the ten best days of her life. Scott Stuber To Helm 47 Ronin
Variety.com is reporting that Universal Pictures is attaching Carl Erik Rinsch to direct “47 Ronin,” the historical samurai epic that will star Keanu Reeves. Scott Stuber is producing through Stuber Pictures, with Pam Abdy producing. Rinsch has previously shot various commercials for RSA, Heineken, and Mercedes. “47 Ronin” would be the latest retelling of the famous true story from Japen’s feudal history. Thor Warriors Three Cast
Marvel Entertainment has announced that Stuart Townsend, Tadanobu Asano, and Ray Stevenson have been cast in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the Marvel Comics title “Thor,” as the fan-favorite characters The Warriors Three. Fandral will be played by Townsend, Hogun by Asano, and Volstagg will be portrayed by Stevenson. The trio of warriors are heroes of Asgard and fight side-by-side with the god of Thunder. The three first appeared in 1965 in Marvel’s “Journey Into Mystery” as supporting “Thor” characters. “Thor” is slated to hit theaters May 20th, 2011. Tim Burton Honored at the Museum of Modern Art
According to the Associated press director Tim Burton was honored by New York’s Museum of Modern Art with a special art exhibition of a good portion of his work, check out the video below. He was joined at the event by Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, who have starred in many of his previous projects. Tim Burton’s new film “Alice in Wonderland” stars Mia Wasikowska (Amelia, Defiance), Johnny Depp (Sin City 3, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus), Anne Hathaway (Bride Wars), Helena Bonham Carter (Terminator Salvation), Alan Rickman and Crispin Glover. Stephen Root Joins The Conspirator
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Stephen Root (”Office Space”, “The Men Who Stare At Goats”) has joined the cast of “The Conspirator,” about the aftermath of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Robert Redford is directing the film. Root will play a key witness in the trial against the cabal of conspirators that were tried as sympathizers in the assassination of Lincoln and in aiding John Wilkes Booth carry out his deed and later escape. “The Conspirator” focuses on the story of Mary Surratt, the lone female conspirator and the first woman in US history to be executed for treason. Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris Join TMI
Variety.com is reporting that Ryan Reynolds (”The Proposal”, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) and Anna Faris (”Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs”) are attached to Universal Pictures’ “TMI,” a comedic project about the downside of too much honesty in a romantic relationship. The projest is written by Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Marc Klein, with Andrew Panay (”Old Dogs”) and Jonathon Komack Martin producing. No director is attached yet to “TMI”. Stephen Susco Writing Hack Slash
The horror news site Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Stephen Susco has been tapped by Relativity be the latest writer to take a crack at adapting the hit cult comic book “Hack/Slash” for a bit-screen film adaptation. Created by Tim Seeley and published by Devil’s Due Publishing, “Hack/Slash” is about teenage monster killer Cassie Hack, and her giant meat cleaver-wielding sidekick and protector Vlad. The two wander the country hunting down “slashers”, horror film-style serial kilers and supernatural beings. No casting or filming news has been released so far. Cast Announced For The Kings Speech
Variety is reporting that Guy Pierce, Geoffry Rush, Golin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, Jennifer Ehle, Derek Jacobi, Timothy Spall and Michael Gambon have all been cast in “The King’s Speech,” which is being directed by Tom Hooper. The film is the story of a young King George VI of England, as he takes the throne after his older brother Edward abdicates. Plagued by a nervous stammer in his speech, he turns to the unconventional speech therapist Lionel Logue, who helps him find his voice as WW2 looms on the horizon. More Red Casting News Announced
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfuss and Brian Cox are all in talks to finalize their joining the cast of “Red”, the adaptation of the action espionage comic book by renowned author Warren Ellis and artist Cully Hamner. “Red” is about a retired special ops hitman, played by Willis, who goes on the warpath when sis existence is ordered to be covered up by the shadowy government forces he once worked for. Thor To Begin Filming
According to Production Weekly, the highly-anticipated “Thor” film from Marvel Entertainment will start filming this January, starting in LA before moving to Santa Fe, NM. Writer Tapped For Hansel and Gretel
The Hollywood Reporter.com is reporting that Dante Harper has been attached to work on the script for the action/horror project “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.” Tommy Wirkola, who directed and co-wrote the Nazi zombie horror comedy “Dead Snow” is directing the project for both Paramount and Gary Sanchez Productions. The film will be about the classic fairy tale siblings after their gingerbread house experience, which inspires them to become a witch-hunting duo. Harvey Keitel Joins Robert De Niro in Little Fockers
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harvey Keitel has joined the cast of Universal and Tribeca Production’s tentatively-named “Little Fockers”, the latest “Meet the Fockers” sequel. The film, the latest in the “Meet The Parents” franchise, stars series regulars Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, Robert De Niro, Owen Wilson, and Blythe Danner, as well as newcomers Jessica Alba, and Laura Dern. Keitel is slated to play a contractor hired by Ben Stiller’s character. This would be the third “Parents” movie, after 2000’s “Meet The Parents” and 2004’s “Meet The Fockers”.
