Title: Midgets vs. Mascots
Directed by: Ron Carlson (Tom Cool)
Starring: Gary Coleman, Jordan Prentice, Jason Mewes and Ron Jeremy
Tagline: “Borat meets Jackass”
I wasn’t too sure about ‘Midgets vs. Mascots’, mockumentary style comedies are a hit and miss for me. The film stars Gary Coleman, Jason Mewes, “The Hedgehog” Ron Jeremy and a cameo appearance by Scottie Pippen from The Chicago Bulls, how could it not be somewhat amusing?
The films official website boasts that ‘Midgets vs. Mascots’ is a “Borat-meets-Jackass shockumentary, five little people and five mascots battle for one million dollars through 30 ridiculous competitions, including how many insults it takes to get punched in a bar, who can drink [...]

Controversial rocker Marilyn Manson has recently released his video for “Arma-Goddamn-Motherf*ckin-Geddon,” the first single from his forthcoming album The High End of Low. The video, which was shot with 30-40 cameras yet only contains footage from two of them, is no less shocking than what fans have come to expect from the shock-rocker with fire, narcissism, bikini clad protesters, and a load of F-bombs. With such explicit title and lyrics it is no surprise that Manson has released two versions of the video, clean and dirty, for the viewing audience.
For those looking to hear what else is in store from The High End of Low, before the album’s May 26th [...]

Title: Drag Me To Hell
Directed by: Sam Raimi (Spider Man)
Starring: Justin Long (Serious Moonlight, Live Free or Die Hard ) and Alison Lohman (Beowulf)
Scores: Technical: 95, Story: 85, Acting: 80, Overall: 87
With all of the hype in the teen-aged horror community surrounding the Twilight series in recent months, it was easy to question how Ghost House Pictures’ new PG-13 release, Drag Me To Hell, would compare. Also being directed and written by Sam Raimi, famously remembered for the smash hit Spiderman trilogy starring Toby Maguire and the revolutionary ‘80s Evil Dead series, and veering away from the slasher sub-genre that has always dominated the box office, Drag Me To [...]
Movie: Public Enemies
Director: Michael Mann (Frankie Machine, Hancock)
Actors: Johnny Depp (Alice in Wonderland, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus), Christian Bale (Killing Pablo, The Dark Knight), Billy Crudup (Watchmen) and Channing Tatum (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra).
Scores: Technical: 95, Story: 85, Acting: 100, Overall: 99
Any movie ringing in at 2 hrs and 40 minutes better be able to hold your attention and make you understand the characters so you can relate and be involved with the events unfolding. Some movies fail miserably at this, others (like the amazing Heat and The Aviator) leave you wanting more. Public Enemies is that kind of movie.
Public Enemies is the tale of the elusive [...]
I just got done listening to Mandy Moore’s latest single “I Could Break Your Heart Any Day Of The Week” and I cant believe I can’t get a refund on that 3 minutes and 15 seconds of my life.
The only good thing about this song was the video and even that was a little cheesy and disappointing. Through the whole video it shows off some really cool slow-mo shots of people getting their asses kicked, while Mandy Moore sits on the side lines badly lip syncing the song, wearing a curious looking trench coat. Sounds kinda cool, right? (except for the bad lip-syncing). Then walks in UFC superstar, “The Iceman” [...]
Paul Epic strikes me as the kind of guy who will jump out of a moving car if it meant he would be helping out a friend. He also seems like he would throw someone out of a moving vehicle if he didn’t like the cologne they were wearing. Paul Epics’ debut album is titled South Of Heaven, North Of Hell and is released on Full Effect Records.
I am a musician. I want to tell you that because I am very much against labeling another musician by saying he sound like someone else. That being said, Paul Epic is an amazing singer and songwriter. He has an insane amount [...]
Linkin Park’s Newest Single “NEW DIVIDE” from the TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN soundtrack is probably their most dynamic sounding song yet. It is the first song they have put out in quite a while that is not a clone of the prior hit. It has a very spooky sounding intro that helps the main riff hit home. It really catches on in all the right places and Chester Bennington sounds like a more seasoned and mature singer than ever before. The band as a whole has a sound and style that seems more complex and intricate. I will most definitely pick up the Transformers soundtrack after hearing this [...]
Out on Mean Buzz/Adrenaline Records, “Sweat It Out” is the third full-length release from Nashville, Tennessee, released in September of this year.
OK there really isn’t any way to do this nicely, so let’s just do it. This isn’t a very good record, at all. Seemingly embracing the more prevalent dancey and hip aspects of mainstream-appropriated indie music that has grown in popularity over the past few years, the Pink Spiders’ effort here doesn’t really do anything other than retread on already beaten-down-to-dirt ground. It’s the combination of attempts at being both “raw” and “rock ‘n roll” (if the multiple references to girls, sleeping on the [...]
As if 15 to 20-somethings didn’t love the cult film enough already, musical mastermind Danny Elfman decided to give the Nightmare before Christmas soundtrack a reboot, by including popular artists to cover the songs.
Released on September 30th, 2008, Nightmare Revisited features artists such a Marilyn Manson, Flyleaf and Plain White T’s as the likes of Jack the Pumpkin King and Sally. Even Elfman himself rescored the opening and closing tracks to the album.
TRACK LISTINGS:
1. Overture - DeVotchKa
2. Opening - Danny Elfman
3. This Is Halloween - Marilyn Manson
4. Jack’s Lament - The All-American Rejects

Due in theaters November 9th, Lionsgate’s “Repo! The Genetic Opera” by director Darren Lynn Bousman, based on a long-running stage production, is a musical freakshow that promises to be epic as it tells the tale of a dystopic future and the plague that forces humanity to go into debt for their very survival. The price for failing to repay your debt is organ harvesting, carried out by brutal assassins called Repo Men, the greatest of which is played by Anthony Head. The story plays out in a true opera form, which a majority of it told in song. We here at Toxic Shock TV were privileged enough [...]
The stage was lit with flashing blue, red and yellow strobe lights. The crowd, which consisted of teens and 20-somethings (and a scarce scattering of parents), packed the room from wall to wall, holding their drinks in one hand and waving their other hand in the air. Move over, Justin Timberlake; the alternative rock/emo group The Spill Canvas is the new favorite in New York City for girls and guys alike.
The group stopped at the Fillmore at Irving Plaza on June 11, 2008, as they are currently headlining their first nationwide tour to endorse their fourth album, No Really, I’m Fine, which was released by Sire Records on [...]

Something Old:
Heavy Metal Soundtrack
1981
I recently gave this one a spin on my headset. There is a lot of stuff one here that is very classic. Most notably are the versions of “heavy metal” by Sammy Hagar and “the mob rules” from Black Sabbath. The mixes are way different than the record album version. in the case of Black Sabbath, it is a known fact that this version is from a totally separate recording session and it includes the “E5150″ intro as part of it. Over all I would say this is something every Metalhead should have in their respective arsenals.

I know I will be getting tons of shit for what I am about to say.
I think the pair of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf as musicians and songwriters belongs in league with the likes of Lennon/McCartney, Stanley/Simmons, Page/Plant, Tyler /Perry, and Jagger/Richards.Steinman/Loaf has never gotten the credit they are due.
As to the music on this LP,Every damn song on here is a bona fide classic, 35 million times over. I hope Jim & Meat are enjoying having the last laugh.

VAN HALEN

WARNER BROS. RECORDS
1988
I hate Van Hagar. If David Lee Roth is not singing on it, it
ain’t Van Halen.
This album sucks. After Roth, Van Halen turned into a
lame and sappy pop and power ballad band, and as you all know I hate ballads.
This abhorrent piece of crap starts off with “MINE ALL MINE”-a song in
which spam-bone-ched-head, I mean Sammy Hagar, is fucking preaching. I don’t wanna hear preaching, and the Sammy era VH was loaded with preaching and whining, such as the next horrid power ballad, “WHEN IT’S LOVE”.
“A.F.U.(NATURALLY WIRED)” is the only song on this album that I can
stomach.

Here’s our exclusive interview with Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park and ask him a few questions about the upcoming album and their role in the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen soundtrack. Transformers opens everywhere on June 24, 2009.
1. Whats been going on since your last studio album Minutes to Midnight?
M: Too many things to get into details, I think. The “New Divide” single and video just came out. My new DC sneaker also just got released, with proceeds going to charity, and I’ve been asked to do a painting for Ron English and Michael Lau’s “Godfather” -themed art show. It’s in L.A. on July 19th, and [...]
1. Where did you come up with the name Pilot Speed?
It was kinda a weird process. As a result of legal issues in the states, we were forced to change the name from Pilate. Our goal was to come up with something we liked but was also linked in a way to the old name; thus Pilot Speed. There’s no deep meaning, it’s real just a handle. As irrelevant and separate from who we are as our own names…
2. What bands influence you as a band and individually?
I think our influences have changed many times over the years. Both as a band and individually. IT goes without saying that we [...]
The Spill Canvas/Toxic Shock interview at The Fillmore at Irving Plaza, June 11, 2008
Toxic Shock: Hello, this is Karen Benardello from Toxic Shock, and I’m here with Joe Beck, the drummer from the rock-emo group The Spill Canvas, at The Fillmore at Irving Plaza in New York City. So Joe, why did you decide to join a band?
Joe Beck: It’s kind of been a dream since I was kid, to play music. Obviously, when kids join bands in high school and middle school, they don’t even think it’s going to become anything. But it kept becoming more serious, and here we are today.
TS: Who were some [...]
