MUSIC REVIEWS

by Ace Diamond

OK, so when my Buddy B.C. asked me to be the music review writer here at Toxic Shock TV, I had some reservations. That was of course until he spoke those magical words that are sweet music to my ears, "Write whatever the fuck you want, anything goes!!!".  So the format I plan to use here is as follows, in the words of Bruce Dickenson, the singer of Iron Maiden, at the Rock in Rio 3 a few years ago: "Something old, Something new and Something from our Jurassic period........" If you don't like it,  fuck you and the horse you rode in on.

So here goes my two bits into the motherfucking pit!!!!

SOMETHING OLD:

THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE
ARE YOU EXPERIENCED?
REPRISE
1967

"THE GREATEST GUITARIST OF ALL TIME" is what Jimi's headstone at his grave in Seattle should read. I know a lot people consider this old fart hippie rock, but I believe it is as relavent today as it was back in 1967 when it came out. Single left handedly, Jimi Hendrix overnight proved that the electric guitar was more than just an instrument to be plucked and strummed, he turned the electric guitar on it's head, literally. So that the younger readers can get an idea what I mean, this album has impacted rock music since 1967 in the manner which the first Van Halen lp has impacted music since 1978,or for those of you that are really young, the way Nirvana single left handedly changed the rock music industry pretty much overnight with the release of their second lp,"Nevermind" in 1991, or let's say, the impact that Green Day has had on the younger bands of today. That is how powerfully this lp was felt, And if you have never heard of it,  you've got a serious problem and the only solution is to click on the link on the right and purchase this music right now and get yourself  "Experienced"!!!+

Now the music.........I believe it speaks for itself. The cd re-issues have a ton of bonus tracks not on the original vinyl lp. All of my Jimi Hendrix is still on vinyl. I would not have it any other way.

For the record, I am also left handed. Southpaws might be a severe minority in a world full of right handed people, but at least we lefties are in our right minds, literally. HAHAHAHAH!!!

SOMETHING NEW:

JAZAN WILD'S
CARNIVAL OF SOULS

This cd was produced by Grammy Award Winning Excutive Producer Bob Kulick. Now for those of you out there that are members of the KISS ARMY, you know that Bob Kulick is the older brother of Bruce Kulick ("KISS" Lead Guitarist from 1984-1996 during their non-make up years),  and was going to be the original lead guitarist of KISS.  That was of course until Ace Frehley "sauntered" into the loft at 10 E.23rd St. in NYC, which is now The Chinatown District. Bob does play lead guitar on 8 KISS  recordings, those are "All American Man", "Larger Than Life","Rockin' In The USA", "Anyway You Want It","I'm A Legend Tonight", "Partners In Crime",  "Down On Your Knees" and "Nowhere To Run".

Anyways, this cd is all done by Jazan Wild himself. This whole cd is very good, but the stand out tracks are "The Snake", the title track, "Carnival Of Souls", and a cover of  KISS' "Rock And Roll All Night".
