SOMETHING OLD:

ANTHRAX
FISTFUL OF METAL
MEGAFORCE RECORDS
1983

This is the debut lp slab of licorice pie from the legendary Anthrax. As we speak, I have my 1st pressing vinyl copy of this album on my hi-fi blasting.

"Deathrider" open hostilities and then after 3&1/2 minutes gives way to "Metal Thrashing Mad".  Both are just utterely killer tracks. Then we have Alice Cooper's "I'm Eighteen" after getting the Anthrax treatment. This version is faster, heavier, and louder than the original. However, I'll stick with Alice Cooper's original version from the 1970's. I like this version as a close second........only Alice can do it better.  "Panic" and "Subjugator" finish off side one.

Side two opens up with the aptly titled "Soldiers Of Metal".......great tunage."Death From Above", the bands' calling card, "Anthrax", "Across The River" and "Howling Furies" finish off this here heavy metal classic.

In keeping with tradition, since this is a new month, I must begin with a "METAL THRASHING MAD"  heavy metal headbanging record review.

I know I have not inputted an article in a few weeks. That is because my computer moniter took the big shit and I had to go buy a new one. Shit happens, right? Ever onward...........

SOMETHING NEW:

SEASONS OF THE WOLF
NOCTURNAL REVELATION
SNAKENET RECORDS
2001

The band produced this themselves. People.......this cd fucking wails. I guess I'm not the only one who likes to make heavy metal music the old way. This bad boy opens up with "New Age Revolution" and then proceeds into the "Dead Zone" , a song executed with a feverous fury. "Quilex" is very dark and brooding with pissed off energy.

Next is the title track, "Nocturnal Revelation", this is thrash metal, band your head, get in the pit and mosh your ass off music. I love it. "Dance Of A Thousand Veils" is a middle eastern belly dancing type of song. "Liar" is an angst ridden lament of dishonesty.  "Magnetic Star" is next, and what a metal monster it is. Slow and brooding we enter into the next track, "Skulls", very haunting, very cool. "Dark And Lonely Depths" causes the "Storm Of The Century". Heavy stuff people. "Starstruck", "NR3", and "Transmission" finish this one off. Overall.......this is a great fucking cd. A must have for any metalhead.

SOMETHING FROM OUR JURASSIC PERIOD:

JACKIE WILSON

Jackie Wilson was an excellent singer as well as a remarkable performer. His most memorable tune is still "Lonely Teardrops", however it is commonly and mistakenly called "Say You Will". Please go check out some of Jackie Wilson's music. I think it is still as relavent today as it was in the late 1950's.
