George Romero does an intense and realistic treatment that follows the exploits of Martin a 17 year old who thinks he is a vampire, who claims to be 84 years old, and who certainly drinks human blood. OK, he doesn’t have fangs, but razor blades work just as good. Martin arrives in Pittsburgh to stay with his uncle, who promises to save his soul and destroy him once he is finished, but Martin’s loneliness finds other means of release. He becomes well known after calling in to a late night radio show, but is he really a vampire?

Martin receives a Two Skipped Beats on the Roger Moore scale, which was hard for me to do cause this is a great Romero flick, but in all honesty outside of it’s cult classic status it lacks in many levels. But as a his fifth film it definitely shows improvement on his filming style and other aspects of his work I truly did enjoy this movie and to anyone who enjoys vampire flicks this is a new and interesting one to watch. It sits proudly on my shelf next to the other Romero films and has the same ranking as all the others in my eyes, non-zombie related that is. So pop your popcorn and enjoy this one on a cold and dork night, you might just learn something about yourself.
