The puzzle box of all puzzle boxes acts as the gateway for leather clad S&M demons from hell.  They are the Cenobites and have come to claim the soul of anyone who opens it. Frank having lost his body and soul to the Cenobites is brought back by a drop of blood from his brother and in doing so he gains a body or at least what seems to be a body.  Forcing his brother’s wife, his former mistress, to bring him men to sacrifice for his own needs of blood and flesh. But the Cenobites find out Frank has escaped their evil clutches come back to claim more than just his soul.

Hellraiser does just that as Clive Barker’s directorial debut he truly does raise hell.  No more than a Heart Stopper can be given for the review on Roger Moore’s movie scale. The Hellbound Heart adaptation by the writer himself was done with the utmost excellence and compassion. Clive Barker raises hell and much more with the creation of Pinhead and the other Cenobites, having spawned more than six sequels the franchise is as strong as ever. As always be afraid, be very afraid.
