Finally the long running video game franchise is planning on making its way to the big screen.  With the delay of Halo the movie, Castlevania has reportedly gotten a $50 Million dollar backing from Rogue pictures a subsidiary of Universal Pictures.  The film is planned to use the script written by Paul W. S. Anderson the writer/director of the Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil and the upcoming Driver film.  Crystal Sky Entertainment has also planned to co-finance the film so the budget should be something of a great one, only time will tell if the film will be one as well.

The planning as of right now is to start shooting next spring the producers are out scouting locations as we speak hoping to find somewhere in Hungary and Romania to use as the films locations.

The movie without a doubt follows the vampire hunting Belmont family in their war against the most famous vampire of all Dracula.  This was the word as Dimension dropped the film do to being unenthusiastic about Anderson’s script.  The script is set to follow many time periods with the main focus on 15th century Transylvania.

“You could almost call this movie Dracula Begins,” Anderson is quoted as saying. “Ever since I made Event Horizon, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of a location that’s a character in the story, of being trapped in an environment that’s out to get you.”

As always stay tuned to Toxic Shock for further updates on this upcoming project, you’ll get it as we do.
