“FANGORIA’s Weekend of Horrors” Brings Horrifying Fun to the Los Angeles area, May 18, 19 & 20, 2007

The “FANGORIA Weekend of Horrors” returns to the Los Angeles area May 18, 19 & 20 with an exciting line-up of top terror talent from both film and television. This fright-filled three-day event is presented by Anchor Bay Entertainment and takes place at the Burbank Airport Marriott, 2500 Hollywood Way.

Celebrity guests and events set for Fango’s annual blast include: Clive Barker, the master of dark fantasy, creator of HELLRAISER, CANDYMAN, NIGHTBREED and LORD OF ILLUSIONS, with a preview of his latest film, THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN; Eli Roth, CABIN FEVER and HOSTEL director, with a HOSTEL: PART TWO presentation; Frank Darabont, writer/director of THE MIST (his new Stephen King film), THE GREEN MILE and THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION; and Neil Marshall, director of THE DESCENT and DOG SOLDIERS, with a first preview of his latest epic, DOOMSDAY.

More of the fright field’s famous faces appearing at the Fango convention include: Paul Naschy, Spanish horror star from ROJO SANGRE, CURSE OF THE DEVIL, DRACULA’S GREAT LOVE, NIGHT OF THE HOWLING BEAST, FRANKENSTEIN’S BLOODY TERROR, VENGEANCE OF THE ZOMBIES, MUCHA SANGRE and at least 75 others; Michael Madsen, tough guy actor from RESERVOIR DOGS, SPECIES, KILL BILL, DIE ANOTHER DAY, SIN CITY and many more; Doug Bradley, HELLRAISER’s Pinhead and co-star of NIGHTBREED; Kane Hodder, the unstoppable Jason from FRIDAY THE 13TH and the new HATCHET; Heather Langenkamp, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET’s heroic Nancy and Shawnee Smith, who played the twisted Amanda in the blockbuster SAW series.

Thora Birch, acclaimed actress from GHOST WORLD, AMERICAN BEAUTY and new chiller DARK CORNERS. David Naughton, star of AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, will preview his new horror comedy, BRUTAL MASSACRE. Russell Mulcahy, the director of HIGHLANDER and THE SHADOW, previews his latest, RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION. Eric Red, acclaimed writer (NEAR DARK, THE HITCHER) and director (BAD MOON, BODY PARTS) will give us the scoop on his new effort, 100 FEET. Doug Jones, long-limbed creature performer from HELLBOY and PAN’S LABYRINTH, who plays the Silver Surfer in this summer’s FANTASTIC FOUR sequel, will make an appearance.

Several star-packed presentations scheduled for the weekend include: PHANTASM panel: creator Don Coscarelli (BUBBA HO-TEP) reunites with the stars of his classic 1979 film and Part III, including Reggie Bannister, Bill Thornbury, Kathy Lester and Gloria Lynn Henry (Saturday); CABIN FEVER 2: SPRING FEVER panel: with producer Lauren Moews, director Ti West (THE ROOST) and returning CABIN FEVER stars Rider Strong and Giuseppe Andrews (2001 MANIACS); BORDERLAND panel: with actors Jake Muxworthy, Brian Presley and Rider Strong, as well as producer Lauren Moews and director Zev Berman.

Also not to miss: BELIEVERS panel, with director/co-writer Daniel Myrick (BLAIR WITCH PROJECT) and stars Johnny Messner (ANACONDAS) and Deanna Russo (REST STOP); MASTERS OF HORROR season two panel: with creator Mick Garris, directors Tom Holland (FRIGHT NIGHT) and Peter Medak (THE CHANGELING) and others; REVAMPED panel: new horror comedy previewed with blaxploitation legend Fred Williamson (FROM DUSK TILL DAWN) and co-star Martin Kove (LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT), as well as writer/director/actor Jeff Rector.

Comic book greats scheduled to appear are Bernie Wrightson: the legendary artist of FRANKENSTEIN, CREEPSHOW, CYCLE OF THE WEREWOLF, SWAMP THING and Dark Horse’s CITY OF OTHERS; EVIL ERNIE creator Brian Pulido and Steve Niles, comics creator (28 DAYS LATER: AFTERMATH, WAKE THE DEAD, CAL McDONALD), with the first news on the 30 DAYS OF NIGHT movie.

New to the Fango weekend will be a horror composer’s panel, with macabre movie music maestros Tyler Bates (THE DEVIL’S REJECTS, 300 and the DAWN OF THE DEAD, HALLOWEEN and DAY OF THE DEAD remakes), Richard Band (RE-ANIMATOR, FROM BEYOND, PUPPETMASTER, PIT & THE PENDULUM, MASTERS OF HORROR), Christopher Lennertz (SUPERNATURAL, Clive Barker’s SAINT SINNER) and John Harrison (DAY OF THE DEAD, CREEPSHOW).

Besides an amazing roster of creepy celebrities, the event will also include a variety of special bonus guests and previews from the upcoming jam-packed indie-horror movie festival and advance previews of such films as Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN, SAW IV, TRICK ’R TREAT, ALIEN VS. PREDATOR 2, I AM LEGEND, THE INVASION, ONE MISSED CALL, CASE 39, THE HILLS RUN RED and many more!

A dealer’s room filled with vendors selling horror film merchandise and collectibles is sure to entice attendees. In addition, FANGORIA TV will present a variety of screenings all weekend in the film room.

On Friday evening at 9:00 PM, FANGORIA brings back the “Shock-N-Roll Spooktacular,” sponsored by Coffin Case, Schecter Guitar Research, Manhunt 2, Premiere Props and the movies BUG and HOSTEL: PART II, as well as SuicideGirls.com featuring music extraordinaire Christian Death 1334, plus horror themed bands and performers. Also on Friday night will be the Coffin Case Fashion Show featuring edgy rock fashions. Separate ticket price is required.
