The story has been recycled more times than a soda-pop can: When two young travelers pick up a hitchhiker on the side of the road, they soon find out he is a deranged serial killer willing to stop at nothing to kill them both.
Although this one is a remake of a remake, it is still worth seeing, and even contains a few wonderful surprises.
Fine-looking camera work, sleek cars, desert scenery, highway collisions and of course the lead gal, played by Sophia Bush, makes this movie one of the better remakes that has come to theaters in some time. What’s more, Sean Bean makes a convincing pyscho.
In fact, the only thing that brings this movie down, is that all audiences, of all ages, have encountered this urban legend, and know it all to well. Not to forget those of us that have seen the original, and the straight to DVD versions. While you won’t be blown away, or scared to death; you will be entertained, and it is possible you will enjoy this retelling of a classic.
If you don’t know this movie, it is one stranger I suggest you DO pick up…
