According to many news sources, Maila Nurmi best known as the horror host Vampira passed away in her sleep at age 86 on January 10, 2008. She was born on December 21, 1921 in Petsamo, Finland. Maila had a successful career as a 1950′s horror-TV host, and also appeared in Ed Woods’ cult 1959 classic Plan 9 from Outer Space. Maila Nurmi will be missed by her friends and many fans worldwide.
