NBC’s medical drama “ER” may be coming to a close, but not before they go out with a big bang! “The Insider” has revealed that “ER” alum George Clooney will be making an appearance in the series’ finale season.

Representatives for Julianna Margulies have also confirmed that she, too, will be returning for the final episodes.

George Clooney was a star on “ER” for 5 seasons, coming back for a brief appearance in 2000 to set up the reason for departure for Julianna Margulies’ character, Nurse Carol Hathaway. Margulies was on “ER” for 6 seasons.

“ER” co-creator John Wells has reportedly ordered a closed set to keep out any press as to what manner the characters will appear.

Clooney is to start filming his scenes on Thursday and Friday this week on the Warner Bros. set in Los Angeles. How many episodes he will appear in is unknown at this time.

Margulies, however, has confirmed that she will be featured in one episode.

Their co-starring episode is set to air at the end of February.

Other former “ER” castmates Eriq Lasalle, Noah Wyle and Anthony Edwards have already returned for episodes in season 15.

The final episode of “ER” will air Thursday, April 2nd, now that NBC has extended the season’s run by three extra episodes. A one-hour clip show retrospective will run just before the final episode airs.
