Jackie Chan to Play Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid Remake

Actor and martial arts star Jackie Chan is reportedly in final negotiations to star as Mr. Miyagi in the remake of The Karate Kid. Chan will play mentor to Will Smith’s son, Jaden, who has been cast in the lead role once played by Ralph Macchio. Variety says the film is set in an exotic Asian locale and that it will borrow elements of the original plot: a bullied youth (Smith) learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor (Chan). Repo! The Genetic Opera DVD Movie Trailer

Lionsgate just released this brand new DVD movie trailer from the upcoming release of Repo! The Genetic Opera by director Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw IV, Fear Itself) and starring Paul Sorvino (Boogie Woogie), Paris Hilton (The Hillz), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects, Alone in The Dark II) and Anthony Head. Lionsgate’s Repo! The Genetic Opera will be in theaters November 7, 2008. Plot: A worldwide epidemic encourages a biotech company to launch an organ-financing program similar in nature to a standard car loan. The repossession clause is a killer, however. There is more news about the expanded roster of robots in disguise in the upcoming “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen”. IESB.Net is reporting that the live-action “Revenge Of The Fallen”, the sequel to 2007′s “Transformers” will be featuring a fan-favorite, the Autobot version of the evil Decepticon mega-Transformer Devastator, Superion. The Wrestler and Slumdog Millionaire Coming to a Theater Near You?

Fox Searchlight has announced that due to their wins at the Golden Globes and preparation for Oscar season, it will extend the theatrical releases of Slumdog Millionaire and The Wrestler. Slumdog won four awards: Best Picture – Drama, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score. It will be playing in roughly 1,300 theaters starting January 23rd. Searchlight won’t begin its national TV campaign for Slumdog until next week. The company also mentioned that it will also up The Wrestler‘s runs from about 60 to 160 on Friday, eventually playing in roughly 400 theaters by Jan. 23.
