Actor and martial arts star Jackie Chan is reportedly in final negotiations to star as Mr. Miyagi in the remake of The Karate Kid. Chan will play mentor to Will Smith’s son, Jaden, who has been cast in the lead role once played by Ralph Macchio. Variety says the film is set in an exotic Asian locale and that it will borrow elements of the original plot: a bullied youth (Smith) learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor (Chan). IESB.Net is reporting that the live-action “Revenge Of The Fallen”, the sequel to 2007′s “Transformers” will be featuring a fan-favorite, the Autobot version of the evil Decepticon mega-Transformer Devastator, Superion. Fox Searchlight has announced that due to their wins at the Golden Globes and preparation for Oscar season, it will extend the theatrical releases of Slumdog Millionaire and The Wrestler. Slumdog won four awards: Best Picture – Drama, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score. It will be playing in roughly 1,300 theaters starting January 23rd. Searchlight won’t begin its national TV campaign for Slumdog until next week.
