NBC’s medical drama “ER” may be coming to a close, but not before they go out with a big bang! “The Insider” has revealed that “ER” alum George Clooney will be making an appearance in the series’ finale season. Representatives for Julianna Margulies have also confirmed that she, too, will be returning for the final episodes. Actress Dakota Fanning has been offered the role of a bloodsucker in the Twilight sequel, New Moon, according to various reports. Fanning is currently in talks to play an Italian vampire opposite Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson. The role up for grabs is that of Jane, who is described in a casting call as a petite blonde with a “Botticelli angel-like face… [and] crimson irises.” The character is a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly group of vampires in author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series. Screenwriter John August has been attached to the big-screen adaptation of the cult graphic novel “Preacher” from DC Vertigo, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter. August, who was also attached to the adaptation of the DC Captain Marvel/Shazam adaptation that he lamented about in his blog two weeks ago, is also attached to the Tim Burton/Disney title “Frankenweenie” according to the report. The road to live-action adaptation for “Preacher” goes back to 1998, the closest so far being a 2006 announcement by HBO to begin a live-action series based on the comic.
