Sony Pictures has announced that it will have to delay the release of filmmaker Roland Emmerich’s latest big budget disaster movie, 2012. The studio is moving the film’s release date from July 10th, 2009 to November 13th, 2009, in hopes to have a smash hit over the Thanksgiving holiday season. The Visual Effects Society (VES) has announced the nominees for the 7th Annual VES Awards ceremony recognizing outstanding visual effects in over a dozen categories of film, animation, television, commercials and video games. 2008′s “Iron Man” led the nominations with five, for scenes and work including the film’s armor HUD and the fan favorite “suit up” scene.
