Static-X has just posted the first single off their forthcoming album, Cult of Static on their official MySpace page. “Stingwray” was inspired by Wayne Static’s wife, former adult film star Tera Wray Static, and the Corvette Stingray she drives. Keeping the integral tones, Static-X encompasses shredding guitars with solos that have brought the band to a level of playing to be reckoned with. The cybernetic stomp of “Hypure” and “You Am I” bludgeon, bruise and break with precise grooves. Elsewhere, the staccato riffs on “Terminal” crush through an unmistakable guitar tone. The folks over at Aintitcool.com got their grubby little hands on a few clips from the upcoming action film “Watchmen” by director Zack Snyder (300, Dawn of the Dead) and starring Malin Akerman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Carla Gugino, Jackie Earle Haley, Billy Crudup, Patrick Wilson and Matthew Goode. Edgar Wright has a sneak peak of Michael Cera (“Arrested Development”, “Juno”, “Nick & Nora’s Infinite Playlist”) in costume as the kung-fu rocker Scott Pilgrim up on his Myspace blog. It’s from the upcoming live-action adaptation of the fan-loved and award-winning comic, which will be called “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World”. “Scott Pilgrim”, created by Bryan Lee O’Malley in 2004, details the life and times of slacker and bassist Scott Pilgrim, who falls in love with the beautiful Ramona V. During a party thrown in celebration of the latest installment of the famous horror series Friday the 13th, one of the franchise’s original stars was injured and taken to the hospital. Warrington Gillette, who played the original Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part 2, attended the party in full Jason costume and took the stage as part of a joke to frighten attendees. However, his plan went south when a female partygoer jumped on stage and tried to wrestle an axe he was holding to the ground, reenacting bits from the cult series, which resulted in Gillette cutting open his hand. Another Hollywood starlet has been caught in the web of Iron Man 2‘s casting for Black Widow. Not much sooner after actress Eliza Dushku, the new star of Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse”, announced she was interested in the comic book-adapted role, actress Scarlett Johansson is reportedly to want to take on the role as well. This marks the third high-profile actress to be rumored for the role of Natasha Romanoff, or her evil side Black Widow, making it one of Hollywood’s currently most coveted roles.
