Hollywood funnyman Jason Bateman has signed on to Juno director Jason Reitman’s latest project, Up in the Air.

Bateman is set to play the boss of George Clooney, who is cast in the film’s lead role as a corporate downsize obsessed with reaching one million frequent flyer miles before his boss finds his letter of resignation after returning from vacation.

Up in the Air is currently filming under DreamWorks and Reitman’s production company, Hard C.

Bateman just finished filming Mike Judge’s Extract, about the personal and professional problems endured by the owner of a flower-extract plant, and has just signed on for another project, entitled The Baster, in which he will co-star opposite Jennifer Aniston, who plays an unmarried 40-year-old woman who turns to a turkey baster and her married friend’s sperm (Bateman) in order to become pregnant..

While rumors are still circling Bateman and his role in the possibly upcoming Arrested Development movie, it has been announced that filmmaker Joe Carnahan is set to direct Remarkable Fellows, a comedy based on an original idea by Bateman.

Up in the Air will be the first producing project for father-son team Ivan Reitman, of Ghostbusters, Meatballs and Stripes fame, and Jason Reitman, who also directed Thank You for Smoking.
