Comic book author Mark Millar (“Wanted”, “Kick-Ass”) and filmmaker Matthew Vaughn (“Layer Cake”, “Kick-Ass”) have decided to team up again and are bringing Millar’s title “American Jesus” to the big screen.

“American Jesus” from Dark Horse Comics centers on the return of Christ in the modern world, leading to a final showdown with the Anti-Christ for the sake of planet Earth and all of humanity. The title, which Millar did with artist Peter Gross, originally appeared as a three-issue miniseries in 2006 with the as “Chosen.” The overarching title of what is now an ongoing trilogy of works from Millar, starting with “Chosen”, is collectively called “American Jesus.”

The second installment of the trilogy is subtitled “The Resurrection” and is due out in the fall.
