The Coen Brothers to Remake True Grit
Tuesday, March 24th, 2009Variety reports that the Coen brothers are set to remake True Grit, the classic Western film that won John Wayne an Oscar. Based on a Charles Portis novel, True Grit is about a 14-year-old girl who, along with an aging U.S. Marshal and another lawman, tracks her father’s killer in hostile Indian territory. While the original film was a showcase for Wayne and co-starred Kim Darby, Glen Campbell, Jeff Corey, Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper, the Coens’ version will stick to Portis’ novel closer and tell the tale from the girl’s point-of-view. Producer Scott Rudin, their partner on the Oscar-winning No Country for Old Men, will once again produce alongside…
