Ryan Reynolds has been cast in the role of the eponymous title hero in the upcoming adaptation of the DC comic “Green Lantern,” about Hal Jordan, a daredevil test pilot who becomes a member of an intergalactic police force who use weapons called power rings that are fueled by fearlessness.

Martin Campbell is directing “Green Lantern”, which is expected to start production in January of 2010. Greg Berlanti, who is producing along with Donald DeLine, wrote the script with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green.
