The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Paramount is development of an adaptation of Robert C. O’Brien’s “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH,” which has been previously been animated in the 1982 film “The Secret of NIMH”, directed by Don Bluth. Director Neil Burger (“The Illusionist”) is in talks to write the screenplay, and Cary Granat is on board to produce. At this past weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con “Book Of Eli” panel, Gary Oldman let slip that the third Batman movie begins filming in 2010. Radical Publishing topped off San Diego Comic-Con news with the announcement that “Saw II” director Darren Bousman is writing and directing a big-screen adaptation of the upcoming Radical title “Abattoir”, which Bousman co-created with Michael Peterson. The horror-oriented story follows a real estate agent who begins to clean up and restore an old mansion after a brutal slaughter took place there.
