Rob Marshall is in talks to take on the director’s role for the fourth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean,” which already has a tentative 2010 production start. He would be taking over from Gore Verbinski.

While Marshall’s involvement in the franchise has not yet been officially confirmed by the studios, sources say that his attachment to the project is close enough to have begun casting.

Marshall made his feature directorial debut with “Chicago,” and most recently directed “Nine”, which is due to hit theaters November 25th, 2009.
