According to a report by Variety.com, Michael Sucsy will be making his feature directorial debut with “Goree Girls,” starring Jennifer Aniston about the true story of an all-female country band in a 1940’s Texas prison.

Written by John Lee Hancock, who rewrote the first draft by Margaret Nagle, the story is based on a 2003 article in the “Texas Monthly” by Skip Hollandsworth. Eight women in the prison formed one of the first all-female country & western in the country, becoming a public favorite in the prison and surrounding community and were eventually even pardoned.

Production is scheduled to begin in January 2010. Overnight Production’s Rick Schwartz and Aaron Kaufman have joined Aniston and her Echo Films partner Kristin Hahn as producers on the project.
