Production Weekly is reporting that Lionsgate is in development of a remake of the classic 1987 film, “Dirty Dancing”, based on a new script by Julia Dahl (“Uptown Girl”). The original classic film starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey as a dancing instructor at a Catskills resort and a visiting New Yorker respectively, who fall in love and compete in a local dance competition. According to a report by Variety.com, Warner Bros. and Hollywood Gang Productions have tapped Michael Davis (“Shoot ‘Em Up”) to direct a remake of the 1981 sci-fi Sean Connery film “Outland.” Chad St. John will pen the film, which Gianni Nunnari of Hollywood Gang is producing. Craig J. Flores is on board as an executive producer. The film follows a law enforcement marshal stationed in space on Io, one of Jupiter’s moons.
