OK, please somebody, wake me up, hurry, I’m having a nightmare!!!
Many sources have confirmed this news: MMA fighter and former UFC champion Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia is going to be wearing the infamous hockey mask when Friday the 13th Part 2 begins filming this fall…
First, Let’s clear things up a little. This is not a personal attack against Tim Sylvia. The F13 franchise is very near and dear to my heart. I was extremely happy with Derek Mears portrayal in the reboot. As far as I am concerned, he was one of the best ever. I have contacted Derek and I am waiting to hear back from him ASAP. I will definitely keep you all updated when that comes in.
Tim Sylvia is 6 ft 8 inches and weighs around 310 lbs. He is a big guy. He is not an actor. Look what happened when Randy Couture was in that Mummy movie… Need I say more? The actors who have played Jason before have this dominating presence about them. Well, the good ones anyway. Just because your tall, does not qualify you to play Jason. That like saying: Just cause you’re tall, you can play in the NBA.
Jason is an Icon, a Legend, and a personality. It is not just a mask, it’s the guy behind the mask that makes it work. I really hope Tim understands that. I have already heard reports that his upcoming fight is taking priority over filming. Oh man, Derek where are you?
Maybe, I’ll go to sleep and wake up to find it was all a dream…
