According to reports from Comics2Film.com and Mania.com, the big-screen adaptation of the comic book “Red” from renowned writer Warren Ellis will be starting filming in January 2010.

Comics2film.com writes that principle photography for the Robert Schwentke-directed film, adapted from the 2003/2004 Wildstorm/Homage Comics book, “is slated for Toronto. It’ll move to Hollywood’s new hot spot, Louisiana, following that”.

The film follows a former CIA hitman who is targeted for a sanctioned elimination to cover up his very existence. He decides to go “red”, meaning on the hunt, for who exactly ordered the hit.

Starring Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman, no release date has been set yet.
