Sony Pictures has picked up the rights to the sci-fi book “The Electric Church” by Jeff Somers. Trevor Sands has been hired to pen the adaptation, which is working under the title “The Avery Cates Project,” the name of the series of books from Somers. Jimmy Miller is producing the adaptation. Life Unexpected Receives Good Ratings, Reviews

The CW’s new mid-season replacement drama, ‘Life Unexpected,’ which premiered on Monday, January 18, is deservingly receiving positive reviews from critics, including Entertainment Weekly. The series, which features former WB favorites Shiri Appleby (‘Roswell’) and Kerr Smith (‘Dawson’s Creek’), as well as Brittany Robertson and Kristoffer Polaha in the lead roles, chronicles the meeting of teenager Lux with her biological parents after spending all of her life in foster care. Summit Entertainment has confirmed that principal photography for the spy-thriller movie “Red”, based on the DC Comics graphic novel written by Warren Ellis, has began in Toronto. The novel follows the life of Frank Moses, a former CIA agent, set to be played by Bruce Willis. Moses is living a normal life until an assassin comes looking for him. Christopher Kyle (“K-19: The Widowmaker,” “Alexander”) has been attached to adapt the best-selling novel “The Seven Sins: The Tyrant Ascending,” by author Jon Land. The book is about the adopted son of an Italian crime lord, Michael “The Tyrant” Tiranno. Michael is called upon by his family to defend a family holding, a literal gambling mecca, from terrorist attacks. Land himself describes the story as the first in a series of James Bond-like adventures starring Tiranno, and that it partially draws from the life story of Fabrizio Boccardi, the investor, producer and CEO of King Midas World Entertainment in Las Vegas.
