ABC is ending the relationship between the highly publicized gay couple, Kyle and Fish, on its soap opera ‘One Life to Live,’ TV Guide Magazine reported on March 12. The couple is reportedly being brought to an end because the show’s fans have responded negatively, and the show has seen a decline in ratings since last year.

The writers for ‘One Life to Live’ have made Kyle and Fish, played by Brett Claywell and Scott Evans, an important part of the show since last year, especially when they married in November during sweeps time. Earlier this month, the two also argued over the fact that Kyle performed a secret DNA test to determine if Oliver fathered Stacy’s baby.

While the official cause of the split hasn’t been announced, the show’s executive producer Frank Valentini, confirmed it. He told the magazine that “We are concluding the story that we set out to tell with Kyle and Fish. We are very proud to have broken new ground with a same-sex couple on daytime.” Claywell and Evans, meanwhile, have not officially commented on the news yet.

The magazine also reported that the couple’s storyline will start to wrap up soon, beginning when a big secret is revealed on the March 29 episode. Claywell and Evans will reportedly both leave the show soon thereafter, but will return in the future.
