Angela Bassett has joined the cast of the big-screen adaptation of DC’s “Green Lantern” as Dr. Amanda Waller.
Amanda Waller is a DC character known for being a government agent who leads the supervillains-on-parole group known as Suicide Squad, as well as being a member of the superhuman spy agency called Checkmate. She was created by John Ostrander, Len Wein, and John Byrne in the late 1980s.
Bassett joins Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, Blake Lively as Carol Fenris, Mark Strong as Sinestro, Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond, and Temuera Morrison as Abin Sur.
Directed by Martin Campbell, “Green Lantern” is slated for release June 17th, 2011.
