Actors and comedians Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy have both revealed via their Twitter accounts that they have amicably split ways, Popeater.com reported on April 6. The two first began dating in December 2005.
“I’m so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I…will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart,” McCarthy wrote on her account. Carrey also had kind words for his ex, saying “Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best!”
McCarthy publicly admitted the two were living together in April 2008 when she appeared on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ However, she made it a point that the two had no plans to marry. Funny man Carrey later said as part of the gag of his ‘Yes Man’ character, he considered making a mock proposal to McCarthy, but he never went through with it.
The relationship has had its critics, though. Patti Stanger, who appears on the Bravo reality show ‘The Millionaire Matchmaker,’ told PopEater last month that the actress and former Playboy model deserved a man who would marry her. While Stranger said that she loves Carrey, she emphasized that “…I love my funny girl, (Jenny) McCarthy. I hope that he gives her a ring. (Jenny) is my girl.”
