Even after heaps of production calamities, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice seems to have come together quite nicely. The first trailer was a bit slow, particularly the dialogue-less first half, but the rest showed some serious potential. Trailer #2 picked up the pace quite a bit, but still lacked the wow factor you’d expect from a film about sorcery in modern-day Manhattan. But Walt Disney Pictures finally gets it right in this brand new TV spot. The shorter runtime did the material wonders, forcing the editor to keep the clip tight, upping the intensity exponentially.

Will the final product more closely resemble the newest promo? We’ll have to wait another two months to find out. Come July 16th, you can see Nicolas Cage as Balthazar Blake, a seasoned sorcerer who takes a young apprentice, Dave Stutler (Jay Barcuchel) under his wing in hopes he’ll help him defeat his archenemies, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina).
