The children of Bruce Redman, an ex-’Survivor’ producer, will not be allowed to attend the memorial service for their mother Monica Beresford-Redman, PEOPLE is reporting. The children’s therapist told a Los Angeles judge on May 28 that they aren’t emotionally ready to attend the service, and the judge agreed.
Beresford-Redman was found dead in Mexico while she was vacationing there with her husband. Redman has since been a “person of interest” in the case. Their children, Camila, 5, and Alec, 3, are temporarily living with Redman’s parents, but he has filed court papers, asking for custody again. Beresford’s sister, Carla Ferreira-Burgos, is also seeking custody.
After the hearing, their other sister, Jeane Burgos, said she hoped that the children would be allowed to attend the service. She wanted them to get closure and understand that its okay to grieve. But she aded that “We respect the decision of the court.”
