Ready to venture back into that notorious Barcelona apartment building directors Jaume Balagueró Paco Plaza introduced you to in REC? Obviously you’re answer should be yes, but after experiencing the sheer terror of the first film, some hesitancy to see the second is understandable. The new red band trailer for REC 2 certainly won’t help ease your concern about spending more time with a bunch of bloodthirsty rabid humans, but it does up the chances that REC 2 will be as good as the first.

Just like this trailer, REC 2 picks up exactly where the first film left off, a screaming Ángela Vidal being dragged into the darkness. It’s too bad she couldn’t hold out just a little longer because help was on the way; well, kind of. REC 2 follows a SWAT team led by a Ministry of Health official that enters the building in attempt to contain the virus, or so they think.

This is no jazzed up trailer hoping to lure you in to yet another horror movie merely hoping to make a quick buck; REC 2 is as good as it looks. Enjoy the trailer courtesy of MySpace and be sure to catch the film when it hits theaters on July 9th.
