There’s no superhero movie without delving into the massive toy market and Warner Bros., DC Comics and Mattel know it. Warner Bros. issued a press release announcing the monumental year the trio is looking forward to with Batman: The Brace and the Bold, DC Super Friends, Young Justice and, the crowning jewel, Green Lantern.

In addition to the toy talk, the release came with the first official promotional art for the film. To a non-Green Lantern enthusiast, like myself, it’s some text with the hero’s symbol in the middle, however, some aren’t pleased with that tagline plastered on top, “Anyone Can Be Chosen.” The problem is, just anyone cannot be chosen. A little Googling reveals that the Green Lantern must be “utterly honest and born without fear,” which doesn’t jibe too well with the term “anyone.”

Anyway, the artwork is nice and bold and achieves exactly what it sets out to do, get moviegoers psyched to see Ryan Reynolds in action. In addition to the promo poster, we’ve also got an image of the cover of License! Global magazine featuring Warner Bros. Consumer Products president, Brad Globe, rocking his very own power ring and a poster showing off all of the DC heroes led by the man of the year, Green Lantern. Check them all out for yourself below.

  1. The tagline “anyone can be chosen” is being used to attract licensees, it’s not for the general public, that’s an ad from a Licensing magazine. They’re playing off the GL mythos by saying that “anyone” can be chosen by WB to have licensed GL merchandise. I repeat, that is NOT the tagline for the film. People need to understand context before they go hysterical.
