After the May 18 announcement that John Travolta and Kelly Preston are expecting their third child, the actress’ mother, Linda Carlson, spoke to USMagazine.com and said “I cried so hard I couldn’t see straight” when she first heard the news.  “I’ve been so worried about her,” Carlson said of Preston.

The news came almost a year-and-a-half after the couple’s 16-year-old son Jett died after suffering from a seizure in January 2009 during a family vacation in the Bahamas.  The family then suffered again when Bahamian EMTs threatened to sell pictures of Jett to the media.

Carlson said the tragedy weighed heavily on Preston and Travolta.  But she said the new baby will know all about his or her brother.  “He’ll see the pictures and he’ll be told stories…It couldn’t come at a better time…It’s changed their lives,” she added.  She said she also hopes the new baby will help the couple with their sorrow.
