After the whole Logan Lerman fiasco, we got a bit of a break from the Spider-Man reboot casting craze. Well, it’s time to get back to it because the latest list is all the rage and now, the LA Times is tacking on two more potentials, one of which is none other than Kick-Ass himself, Aaron Johnson. Makes sense, right? The guy did a fantastic job portraying a normal kid who suits up to fight crime; considering the only difference is that Peter Parker ends up with some real superpowers, playing Spider-Man should be no problem for Johnson.

I’d love to be more enthusiastic about Johnson’s potential, but it turns out there’s another new name on the list and this young actor happens to be one of my favorites, Anton Yelchin. I first caught Yelchin in 2006’s Alpha Dog and since, he’s become part of two massive franchises, Star Trek and Terminator. The guy’s got some serious talent and just happens to have the perfect physical stature to play Peter Parker.

These are two fantastic options but we can’t ignore the others still in the running, Jamie Bell, Frank Dillane, Josh Hutcherson, Alden Ehrenreich and Andrew Garfield. Bell and Hutcherson are the only two there will familiar the faces while the rest can be filed in the up-and-coming category. Bell is well known for starring in Billy Elliot and you may have recently caught Hutcherson in Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant.

The LA Times suggests screen testing will begin shortly and you all know what happens after that. Comic Con is right around the corner and that could be the opportune time to make the big announcement.
