Mena Suvari married concert producer Simone Sestito on June 26 in Vatican City, PEOPLE is reporting. The ‘American Pie’ actress and her fiancee had a private church ceremony, with a private reception following outside of the city.
The two met at the Toronto Film Festival in 2007, and became engaged a year later. They chose to marry in Rome because Sestito has family who lives near the city. He told the magazine in 2008 that he and Suvari “…understood each other. She’s very caring and understanding. There was a connection.”
While the 31-year-old actress, who next appears in the comedy ‘You May Not Kiss The Bride’ with Dave Annable, is only six years older than Sestito, she’s known for the big age difference in her first marriage. Suvari married cinematographer Robert Brinkman, who is 17 years older than she, in 2000. She filed for divorce in 2005, citing irreconcilable differences.
