Jennifer Love Hewitt has admitted that playing a Southern mom-turned-prostitute in the new Lifetime original movie ‘The Client List,’ airing July 19, has made her feel empowered, the Huffington Post reported on July 10. In her first television role since it was announced earlier this year that her hit CBS show ‘Ghost Whisperer’ was canceled, Hewitt plays real life mom Samantha Horton. She said of the role that “It’s usually the male in the household that has to go out and do things for his family, and I loved how this was about female empowerment.”
However, Hewitt also said of the role, which she lists as one of her favorites, “I definitely think this was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. It was a world I didn’t understand and it was a world I was judgmental of.” She added that part of the reason it was hard had to do with not getting much time to work out for the role.
Hewitt added that she never felt like Samantha was cheating on her husband or family, as she turned to prostitution to bring in money. “I think it felt like helping her family,” she also said.
