Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley was attacked by three men in a Japanese bar on August 5, People.com is reporting. He was then sent tot he hospital, which was confirmed on the band’s Facebook page. “It is unfortunate to say, but (Deryck) Whibley is still in the hospital. He was attacked late last night in Japan. We are waiting for results and we are hoping for the best. Thanks for your support,” the post states.
Japanese police are investigating the attack, EOnline.com is also reporting The group was in the country to play at the Summer Sonic rock festival. The band posted an update on Whibley’s condition the following day, saying “After an MRI scan, it appears (Deryck) has slipped a disc in his back once again. Despite a doctor’s instructions, he has decided to play today’s show at Summersonic regardless.” A week prior to the incident, the band had to cancel several tour dates because he had bronchitis.
