Tyra Banks, the executive producer and a judge on ‘America’s Next Top Model,’ has issued a public statement regarding the show’s new trailer featuring a 6′ 2″ model with an extremely tiny waist, PEOPLE’S TV Watch is reporting. In an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, Banks said the promo was used as a fun and entertaining way to promote the show’s next cycle. She added that the trailer “…was edited in a way that misconstrued our overarching message.”

The former model also said she “…regrettably didn’t see this clip before it was released to the public,” because it’s impossible for her to review every promo. She further went on to say that she wanted to apologize for the entire ‘Top Model’ team.

Banks added that she’s proud of everyone who voiced their opinion about the trailer. But being scrutinized herself for being too skinny as a pre-teen to having a fuller frame after she retired from modeling, “I am committed to expanding the definition of beauty which includes ALL shapes, sizes and proportions, from skinny to curvy and everything in between,” she said.
