Robert ‘Joe’ Halderman, the former television producer who infamously tried to blackmail ‘Late Night’ host David Letterman over his numerous affairs with former employees, was released from jail on September 2, Popeater.com is reporting. City Department of Correction records report that Halderman was released from a New York City jail after serving only four months of his six-month sentence. He was released early for good behavior.
It was publicly revealed that Halderman demanded $2 million from Letterman last fall to keep quiet about his affairs. Instead of giving in tot he former CBS News producer’s threats, Letterman decided to admit to the affairs instead. Halderman’s lawyer said he is glad to be out of jail, and will be looking for work while he completes his court-ordered 1,000 hours of community service.
