Penelope Cruz’s reps have confirmed that the Academy Award-winning actress is four-and-a-half months pregnant with her first child, PEOPLE reported on September 14. The news comes after months of rumors that she was expecting a child with her new husband, ‘Eat Pray Love’ actor Javier Bardem.

The couple was trying to hide the news at first, but the rumors intensified after Cruz was seen wearing a trench coat in L.A. in an effort to hide her figure. A picture also surfaced earlier this week from her latest movie, the fourth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ which showed off her growing stomach.

Cruz married Bardem in early July at a private ceremony at a friend’s house in the Bahamas. That month, her reps denied the pregnancy rumors. The two started their romantic relationship while filming their 2008 movie ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona,’ for which Cruz won her Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
