Lindsay Lohan withdrew on September 20 the $100 million lawsuit she filed against the New York-based brokerage company E-Trade, Popeater.com is reporting. A Manhattan court filing confirmed the news, and in response, E-Trade spokeswoman Susan Hickey said the case’s end reflected a “simple business decision.”
Lohan filed the lawsuit E-Trade after it aired a commercial during this year’s Super Bowl. The commercial showed an infant girl accusing her “boyfriend,” the boy who is the face of the online trading company, of seeing “that milkaholic Lindsay” behind her back. Lohan’s lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, said the commercial “deliberately referred to” her client, adding “These babies…were symbolic and…were actually portraying (Lohan) and her grown-up friends.”
E-trade claimed Lohan’s lawsuit was merit-less, and pointed out that the star isn’t associated with online trading or banking. Lohan’s decision comes after she spent two weeks in jail and two week in rehab this summer for violating her probation from a 2007 DUI case.
