Shape Editor-in-Chief Valerie Latona has apologized to readers for putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover of the current October issue, E!Online.com is reporting. Enough readers complained to the magazine that Latona felt she had to address the issue.
“You are all in good company…as you all agree Shape has made a terrible mistake in putting (LeAnn) Rimes on the cover,” Latona wrote in a letter to fans. She further wrote “Please know that our putting her on the cover was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal.” Latona also said the magazine wanted to show that everyone is human, even celebrities. “And this woman in particular found strength in exercise in what she said was her most difficult personal moment.”
But readers were still upset that the magazine would feature the once young media darling, who has admitted that she cheated on her ex-husband Dean Sheremet with actor Eddie Cibrian, who was also married and had children. Latona added that she is sorry for Shape’s decision to feature Rimes, and hopes readers will give the magazine another chance.
