Baltimore prosecutors have dismissed the second-degree misdemeanor assault charges against Mario, Popeater.com is reporting. The R&B singer was arrested for allegedly shoving his mother, Shawntia Hardaway, into a wall in their apartment. She changed her story on the witness stand, saying that she was under the influence of drugs and alcohol on October 1 when she called police. She also said that her son never touched her.
Billy Murphy, Mario’s attorney, maintained his client’s innocence since his arrest. He said the singer never laid a hand on his mother, and he “remains committed to helping his mother battle her addiction.” The former ‘Dancing With the Star’s contestant was charged with one count of second-degree assault. He was later released on $50,000 bond.
When police arrived at their apartment, Hardaway was crying and said that her son caused her minor pain. The report stated that Mario pushed her “eight feet into a living room wall, where she hit her head.”
