Twentieth Century Fox has finally revealed the plot-line to its upcoming X-Men prequel, ‘First Class,’ Slashfilm.com is reporting. The movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2011 and is being directed by Matthew Vaughn, will explore the relationship between Professor X and Magneto.

According to Screenrant, the movie will follow Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr before they became Professor X and Magneto. The two are discovering their powers for the first time, and are actually close friends instead of enemies. Alongside other mutants, who have yet to reveal themselves to the world, they are fighting to stop Armageddon. The rift between the two began during this fight, leading to the war between Professor X’s X-Men and Magneto’s Brotherhood.

In the X-Men comic books, the character Armageddon was created by Apocalypse, who fused his DNA with Jean Grey’s. However, film producer Bryan Singer is saying Jean and Cyclops won’t actually be in the movie, so that fact won’t be brought up in the plot. But Twentieth Century Fox is hoping they will be able to launch another franchise off of the Apocalypse character, much like Wolverine.
