It’s been over 40 years since the Beatles broke up, but the Fab Four’s music has yet to fade. Just a few weeks ago the band made its iTunes debut and now one of their many cover bands, The Minnesota Beatle Project, drops its second album. Sci-fi and the western have long been some of the most popular and successful genres in American movie history, so combining the two would seem like a great idea to any film studio. So after the release of his studio’s, Full Moon Entertainment, hit 1989 film ‘Puppet Master’ and its 1991 follow-up ‘Puppet Master 2,’ B-movie veteran actor Charles Band hoped to create another successful franchise, the sci-fi-western mix ‘Oblivion.’ But with its absurd plot, lackluster acting and terrible special effects, Band is most likely happy that many people have forgotten one of his studio’s earliest entries. ‘The Mentalist’ lead actor Simon Baker, who stars as Patrick Jane, an unconventional consultant to the California Bureau of Investigation, is currently finalizing a new deal with Warner Bros. Television, TVGuide.com is reporting. Under the new contract, Baker will receive $30 million, which includes money already promised to him under his current deal. As part of the agreement, Baker will add an additional year to his current six-season contract. He’ll also serve as a producer starting in season 5 in 2012. Demi Lovato has reportedly reached an agreement settlement with Alex Welch, the backup dancer she allegedly struck during her tour with the Jonas Brothers, Access Hollywood is reporting. Donald Karpel, the lawyer representing Welch, confirmed the news, saying “There is a settlement and all of the issues have been amicably and completely resolved.” Welch has also commented on the settlement, saying she’s happy with the agreement. While details of the settlement haven’t been released, Welch also said that she’s ready to move on and to start working again. Len Wiseman’s upcoming remake of ‘Total Recall’ has been set to start shooting at the new Pinewood Toronto Studios in Canada, Comingsoon.net is reporting. In an effort to attract more big-budget films to the city, the Infrastructure Ontario agency, in conjunction with Build Toronto, has already secured the reboot. The movie, with an estimated budget of $200 million, will be the largest-budget project to ever be filmed in Toronto. Columbia Pictures, which is distributing ‘Total Recall,’ has already signed the deal with Pinewood Toronto. No actors have been confirmed to be starring in the project yet.
