On “The” “Wendy Williams Show”, it was released that Aretha Franklin wanted Halle Berry to portray her in a biopic about the singer’s life. On the Golden Globes red carpet, Berry said that she would seriously consider playing Franklin if she only had the singing chops to back it up. Well, Franklin has given her retort via Williams. According to Entertainment Weekly, John Travolta is in serious discussion about playing mob boss John Gotti. The site reports that Marc Fiore, the CEO of Fiore Films, just might become the mob boss for an upcoming film about three generations of the Gotti crime family. “We would love to have him,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “He’s a terrific actor.” According to Fiore, Travolta is just the actor that could portray Gotti. “John Gotti, Sr. — he’s an icon. Naomi Watts’ rep confirms that the actress has been cast in “J. Edgar”, according to Entertainment Weekly. Watts’ character is supposed to be playing Hoover’s secretary, Helen Gandy. Gandy, according to Deadline, was called by Hoover as indispensable and kept many of Hoover’s secrets. She also took it upon herself to keep Hoover’s public persona in tact after his death. Originally, according to Deadline, Watts was the forerunner to play Gandy, but the studio behind the film kept looking for other actresses because of the fear that Watts’ schedule wouldn’t fit.
