Black Swan Poster

Interview with 'Black Swan' scribe John McLaughlin

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

Scribe John McLaughlin – one of the writers for the Oscar nominated and critically acclaimed Black Swan – is a fairly simple man at first glance. He doesn’t really flash any Hollywood bravado, despite an extensive and equally impressive resume within the industry. During a recent speaking event at Reeves Theatre on the University of Tampa campus, he was constantly chuckling when posed with deep, analytical questions from both students and moderator Professor John Capouya, regarding his past and upcoming works. He definitely takes his profession seriously, yet at times, he may not take himself too seriously. Which is one of the reasons why the packed house hung on his…

Edmund Entin

Interview: Seconds Apart's Edmund Entin

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Two is always better than one, right? Well, in the Entin brothers’ case, I’d say so because otherwise, one or the other would have his work cut out for him doubling as a set of telekinetic twins in Seconds Apart. The film is one of seven After Dark Originals films due out on January 28th in which Edmund Entin and his brother Gary star as Seth and Jonah, twins with an unusual and dangerous ability. When their classmates begin to die, the brothers become prime suspects. However the police should be the least of their worries because jealously winds up turning the brothers into their own worst enemies. Just the…

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games Begin On March 23rd, 2012

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

We knew the Hunger Games movie was coming, but now it’s really official. As reported by THR, Lionsgate picked a date and the film adaptation of Suzanne’s immensely popular book will hit theaters on March 23rd, 2012. As of right now, it’s got that weekend all to itself. 442 days may seem like a ways away, but at least we’ll have the news items to hold us over. For the past few months the only big development has been the hiring of Gary Ross to direct. Other than that, we’ve merely gotten a small handful of casting rumors. However, now that the release date is locked, producer Nina Jacobson and…

Elizabeth Olsen

Sundance's breakout star: Elizabeth Olsen

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

The Sundance Festival has made stars out of several of our big-ticket actors, and this year is no exception. The breakout star this year is “Martha Marcy May Marlene” actress Elizabeth Olsen. Olsen, younger sister to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, stars in the film as a young woman who reconnects with her sister after running away from a cult she was a member of for two years. Due to those years in the cult, she has a tough time readjusting to regular life, becoming paranoid and confused by regular social mores and the ideals taught to her by the cult leader (John Hawkes). Olsen’s performance in the film is one…

Source Code Poster

Source Code poster released

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

The official poster for “Source Code” has been released, according to ScreenCrave. The poster shows Jake Gyllenhaal’s character running amid photos showing different parts of the character’s past and possibly future, at least, that’s what I gather from it. It would also appear that this is an enhanced poster. Many magazines and other forms of media are now utilizing special square codes on certain ads and articles that allow the viewer to access videos and other media on their computer. There is a white square at the bottom of the poster that looks like one of those special codes. It also has some instructions under it, further signifying that the…
