During an interview with Channing Tatum about his newest movie “The Eagle”, ScreenCrave was able to glean some information about the upcoming screen adaptation of the hit 1980s TV series “21 Jump Street.” Tatum said that the script is different than any other script he’s seen before and is highly excited about the film.

“‘21 Jump Street’ will be the most insane ride that you will ever go on,” he told the website.
It’s the most ridiculous script I’ve ever read in my entire life. I’ve read a lot of insane scripts and this one takes the cake.”

He also revealed that a part was written specifically for Johnny Depp, who became a huge star from headlining the show. According to Tatum, the “Jump Street” team “are beating on his door so hard that I hope he answers. Yeah, we would freak out I think.”

There have been rumors that Depp will make a cameo in the film, and Depp himself has been stated to show interest in returning to the story that virtually launched his career.

For those not familiar with the show, “21 Jump Street” follows undercover cop Tom Hanson as he and his fellow undercover officers fight crime in a high school. The film, also starring Jonah Hill and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, will be released March 16, 2012.
